Dog-Friendly Accommodation in Bedfordshire

A dog lying comfortably on a hotel bed, illustrating dog-friendly accommodation in Manchester

Bedfordshire isn’t a county that gets talked up for dog-friendly breaks, and digging into it, I can see why — Figo and I found a genuine welcome here and there, but it thins out fast the moment you go looking for a proper hotel, a campsite with a stated dog policy, or a self-catering cottage inside the county itself. I went looking for options I could stand behind with a named, checkable source, rather than copying a “pet-friendly” badge from a booking aggregator and hoping it still applies.

I’ll be upfront about this one: Bedfordshire’s dog-friendly accommodation supply is thin across the board, and I’d rather tell you that plainly than pad the list. If you’re planning a stay and want somewhere to let your dog stretch their legs once you’ve checked in, our guide to local dog walks in Bedfordshire is worth bookmarking alongside this one.

Dog-friendly hotels in Bedfordshire

Bedfordshire’s hotel scene has two confirmed, checkable dog-friendly options. Several bigger names either don’t publish a dog policy anywhere we could find, or didn’t answer the question at all on their own site.

  • Woodland Manor Hotel, Green Lane, Clapham, Bedford, MK41 6EP (just north of Bedford town). Dogs are welcome, but specifically in a separate cottage on the grounds rather than the main hotel building — ask the hotel directly for current fees and any limit on number or size, since neither is published on the listing itself. • Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel, 2 St Mary’s Street, Bedford, MK42 0AR (right in the town centre). Dogs only, one pet per booking, for £15 per pet per night plus a £25 per night deposit; pets can’t be left unattended in the room. Source: cross-checked via the hotel’s Expedia listing, since the hotel’s own site didn’t carry a dedicated pet-policy page we could verify directly. · View on Google Maps. Verified 18 Oct 2026.

What we checked but left out: Flitwick Manor (Hallmark Hotels), near Ampthill, is a well-regarded country house hotel, but neither its own site nor any aggregator we checked states a dog policy either way, so we’re not listing it as confirmed. The Bell Inn at Woburn (Greene King Inns) is a genuine pub with rooms, but its own site gives no pet-policy information and its booking page returned no results when we checked — inconclusive rather than confirmed. We also looked for a current UK dog policy from Premier Inn, which has branches across the county, but couldn’t confirm one through the chain’s own channels at the time of writing, so we’ve left it off rather than guess at a policy that may have changed.

Dog-friendly camping and glamping

This is the thinnest category of the three. Several campsites around Leighton Buzzard, Biggleswade, Sandy, Flitwick and Maulden appear on Pitchup’s own “dogs allowed” filter for Bedfordshire, which is a reasonable starting point for a search — but not one of them publishes a dog fee, a number limit, or a size limit on its own listing or its own website, so we can’t honestly name one here as a confirmed, checkable recommendation. If you’re planning a camping trip, filter Pitchup for Bedfordshire yourself and ring the site directly to confirm its current dog policy before you book, rather than assuming the “dogs allowed” tag covers everything you need to know.

Self-catering cottages

Genuine dog-friendly self-catering inside Bedfordshire is also thin on the ground on the major agencies’ own listings. Searching Sykes Cottages’ Bedfordshire listings directly, one property stood out with a clear pet marking:

  • Pavenham cottage (Sykes Cottages Ref. 1087786), Pavenham, Bedford — marked “Pets: Yes” on its own listing page. The marking is a general pets flag rather than a dog-specific one, and no fee or number limit is shown, so confirm directly with Sykes or the owner that it’s suitable for your dog before booking. View the listing on Sykes Cottages. Verified 18 Oct 2026.

That’s the only individually named, checkable cottage we found with a clear pet marking inside the county. Wider searches turned up plenty of “no pets” listings and a scattering of properties just over the Bedfordshire border in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, which we’ve left out as not genuinely in the county.

What to check before you book a dog-friendly stay in Bedfordshire

  • Always confirm the dog fee and the maximum number of dogs directly with the property — a “dog friendly” tag on a listing site doesn’t guarantee the fee or limit shown there is current, and several of the properties here don’t publish one at all.
  • Ask whether dogs are restricted to a specific building or room type, as with the Woodland Manor’s separate cottage, so you’re not caught out on arrival expecting a dog-friendly main building.
  • If supply in Bedfordshire itself doesn’t work for your dates, neighbouring Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire have noticeably more established dog-friendly stays — worth widening your search by 20 minutes or so.
  • Pack familiar bedding, food and water from home so a new environment feels less unsettling, and bring something to help your dog settle in — we always travel with Calmshops’ 8-in-1 daily multivitamin chews as part of Figo’s travel routine.
  • If your dog has an existing health condition, speak to your vet before travelling, especially for a longer journey or a change of routine — our list of the best vets in Bedfordshire is worth bookmarking in case you need one while you’re here.
Are there dog-friendly hotels in Bedfordshire?

Yes, two: Woodland Manor Hotel near Bedford, which takes dogs in a separate cottage on the grounds rather than the main building, and the Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel in the town centre (£15 per pet per night, one dog per booking). We couldn’t confirm a current dog policy for Flitwick Manor, the Bell Inn Woburn, or Premier Inn’s Bedfordshire branches.

Can I find dog-friendly camping or a cottage in Bedfordshire?

Genuine supply is thin. We couldn’t find a single Bedfordshire campsite with a clearly published dog fee or limit, and only one self-catering cottage (in Pavenham) had a confirmed, named pet marking.

Why is Bedfordshire’s dog-friendly accommodation list so short?

Because we only list what we can verify against a property’s own site or a named booking platform. Several well-known Bedfordshire names simply don’t publish a dog policy either way, so rather than guess, we’ve left them out and said so.
