Dog-Friendly Accommodation in Conwy: Hotels, Camping & Cottages

Conwy’s got the Great Orme, Snowdonia on its doorstep and a proper stretch of coast — a good base for a dog-friendly break. Our Conwy hub page and dog swimming spots guide cover what to do once you’re here. For somewhere to actually stay, Figo and I only wanted places with a specific, checkable dog policy — not a vague “pets welcome” badge on an aggregator page. Here’s what we could confirm.

Hotels and B&Bs

Shelbourne Hotel, Llandudno

At 13 Mostyn Crescent, Llandudno, Conwy, LL30 1AR (Google Maps), up to two dogs are welcome per booking, in three ground-floor dog-friendly rooms. A charge applies but isn’t published online, and dogs aren’t allowed on beds or furniture or left unattended — treats are provided at reception. Worth calling 01492 879660 to confirm the current rate.

The Stella Historic Llandudno

At 64 Church Walks, Llandudno, Conwy, LL30 2HG (Google Maps), this B&B takes up to two dogs with no pet fee and no size or breed limits. Dogs are welcome in all guest areas and get a welcome pack on arrival, though there’s no exercise area on site and dogs can’t be left unattended in the room.

We checked Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, voco, ibis and Mercure directly for a Conwy branch — there genuinely isn’t one anywhere in the county, so this isn’t a case of a chain existing but not taking dogs. Two Premier Inn branches sit in or near Llandudno, but as with every other AboutDogs guide, we’ve left Premier Inn off by default since no branch-level dog policy could be confirmed.

Camping and caravan parks

Ty Mawr Holiday Park, Abergele

At Towyn Road, Abergele, Conwy, LL22 9HG (Google Maps, Pitchup listing), up to two dogs per pitch are welcome year-round, on leads and supervised. The fee varies rather than being a flat figure, and the usual UK breed restrictions apply (Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro).

Bron-Y-Wendon Holiday Park, Colwyn Bay

At Wern Road, Llanddulas, Colwyn Bay, Conwy, LL22 8HG (Google Maps, Pitchup listing), dogs are welcome all year at £3 per dog per night, up to four dogs per pitch, kept on leads. Dogs must be microchipped, and the breed restrictions include the XL Bully alongside the standard list.

Beyond these two, we found around twenty more named campsites and glamping sites across the county generally describing themselves as dog-friendly — Dinarth Hall, Plas Farm, Bryn Ffanigl Ganol, Ty’n Rhos and others — but without an individually verified fee or dog limit, so we’re not listing specifics for them here.

What we couldn’t confirm

Self-catering cottages turned out to be the weakest category in Conwy. Sykes Cottages lists several Llandudno-area properties as taking pets, but the search results only say “pets allowed” with no number or fee stated. One listing we followed through on, The Dunes in Llandudno, actually contradicted itself — the summary said one pet allowed, the body text said up to five — so we’ve left it off rather than publish a number we can’t stand behind. If a cottage matters to your trip, phone the owner directly and get the dog policy in writing before booking.

A new place to sleep can unsettle even a well-travelled dog. Our Conwy vets guide is worth bookmarking before you go, and we’ve found the calming collars and treats at Calmshops a useful complementary option — always check with your vet first if your dog has any underlying health conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there dog-friendly hotel accommodation in Conwy?

Yes. The Shelbourne Hotel and The Stella Historic Llandudno, both in Llandudno, confirm dogs are welcome, though fees and details vary — worth a call ahead for the Shelbourne specifically.

Are any Conwy chain hotels dog friendly?

No — we checked directly, and there’s no Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, voco, ibis or Mercure branch anywhere in Conwy county. Premier Inn branches exist near Llandudno but aren’t listed, as no branch-level dog policy could be confirmed.

Can I bring my dog camping in Conwy?

Yes — Ty Mawr Holiday Park in Abergele and Bron-Y-Wendon Holiday Park in Colwyn Bay both confirm dogs are welcome year-round, on leads.
