Dundee isn’t the obvious dog holiday destination of the Highlands or the coast, but as a compact “City of Discovery” with the Tay on its doorstep, it’s a fine base for a short break with a dog in tow. We checked each hotel’s own site or booking platform rather than taking an aggregator’s word for it, and we’re upfront below about where we drew a blank.
Chain hotels
We don’t list Premier Inn here, following our standard rule — its general UK policy is no pets (assistance dogs excepted) and we found no Dundee branch making an exception.
- Staybridge Suites Dundee (IHG), Lower Dens Mill, DD4 6AD — pets allowed, confirmed on IHG’s own Dundee pet-friendly listings. Housed in a converted jute mill, with dog beds and water bowls provided and dogs welcome in the breakfast lounge. We couldn’t pull an exact fee or weight limit from IHG’s property page, so confirm by phone before booking.
- Malmaison Dundee, near the railway station — dogs welcome at all Malmaison properties, declared at booking, £25 per dog per night. No stated limit on number of dogs. Dogs can join you in the hotel bar.
- Travelodge Dundee Strathmore Avenue — listed as pet-friendly for a nightly fee by the local tourism board; we couldn’t load Travelodge’s own current policy page to confirm the exact fee at the time of writing, so check travelodge.co.uk directly before booking.
Just over the boundary
- The Longforgan Coaching Inn, Longforgan, DD2 5EJ — dogs accepted with no extra fee, according to the local tourism board. This is a village in Perth & Kinross, about 8 miles west of Dundee city centre, so it’s flagged here as just over the boundary rather than a Dundee City listing proper.

Where we’re still looking
We couldn’t find a verified campsite or caravan park actually inside Dundee City’s compact urban boundary — it’s a small council area with little green-belt camping land, and nearby options sit over in Angus and Perth & Kinross instead. We also couldn’t independently confirm a pet policy for Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa, Ashley House Guest House in Broughty Ferry, or several other Dundee hotels that came up in general search but had nothing on their own site or social media about dogs — so we’ve left them out rather than guess.
A dog who’s unsettled by a new hotel room might appreciate a familiar scent alongside your usual routine — our calming collars and treats are worth a look, though they’re a small aid, not a fix for serious travel anxiety. Speak to your vet if that’s a bigger issue for your dog.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a dog-friendly campsite in Dundee?
We couldn’t verify one actually inside Dundee City. Dundee is a small, built-up council area, so nearby camping options are mostly over in Angus or Perth & Kinross.
Does Malmaison Dundee charge for dogs?
Yes, £25 per dog per night, declared at the time of booking, confirmed on Malmaison’s own site. There’s no stated limit on the number of dogs.
Does Premier Inn in Dundee allow dogs?
Premier Inn’s general UK policy doesn’t allow pets except assistance dogs, and we haven’t found a Dundee branch that makes an exception, so we don’t list it here.
