Dog-Friendly Pubs, Cafés & Restaurants in Denbighshire

After a good long walk along the Dee or up towards the Clwydian Range, Figo is always ready for a sit-down and a sniff around a beer garden. Here’s what we could verify about dog-friendly pubs, cafés and restaurants across Denbighshire — and, being honest with you, a couple of places where the information genuinely contradicts itself.

Llangollen and the Dee Valley

The Sun Trevor, Sun Bank, Llangollen, LL20 8EG, sits right beside the Llangollen Canal near bridge 41. Visit Wales’ own “Round Hound” dog-friendly pubs page says dogs are welcome in the bar, restaurant and beer garden, and that the pub even has a dedicated dog menu with treats and dog ice cream. One regional press roundup, though, says dogs are welcome in the bar area only. Given the conflict, we’d suggest ringing ahead (01978 860651) to confirm before you arrive with a hungry dog in tow.

Clwydian Range (Bodfari)

Dinorben Arms, B5429, Bodfari, LL16 4DA, is tagged “Dog Friendly” on CAMRA’s Wales listing, though neither CAMRA nor the pub’s own website says exactly which areas dogs are welcome in. Worth a quick call (01745 775090) if you want to know before you set off.

Near Ruthin

Three Pigeons Inn, Graigfechan, Ruthin, LL15 2EU (a village about three miles south of Ruthin itself) carries the same “Dog Friendly” CAMRA tag, again without detail on specific areas.

Prestatyn

  • Torello Lounge, 57 High Street, Prestatyn, LL19 9AH — recommended as dog-friendly by a third-party holiday-park roundup, though neither the venue’s own site nor any primary source we could reach confirms a policy directly. Treat as a lead rather than a certainty.
  • Beach Hut Cafe & Bar, Beach Rd W, Prestatyn, LL19 7EY — listed with “dog-friendly indoor seating” on an aggregator site, but again not confirmed on the venue’s own website.

Rhyl

Les and Rita’s Fish Bar, 28 Wellington Rd, Rhyl, LL18 1BN, is called a “dog-friendly chippy” in a North Wales dog-friendly eating guide, though we found no second source confirming indoor seating policy.

Just over the border (handy if you’re in Llangollen)

Two pubs that sit just outside Denbighshire, in Wrexham county borough, but are genuinely close enough to be useful if you’re staying in Llangollen: The Telford Inn, Station Road, Trevor, LL20 7TT, right by the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, where dogs can go anywhere except the dining area; and the Wynnstay Arms, High Street, Ruabon, LL14 6BL, about six miles from Llangollen, which markets itself as dog-friendly but gives no indoor-area detail.

Where we found nothing

We came up empty for Denbigh town centre itself, St Asaph, Rhuddlan and Corwen — every search returned only generic listings or campsite results, not an actual named pub, café or restaurant with a stated dog policy. If you know a genuinely dog-friendly spot in any of these towns, we’d love to hear about it.

Whichever spot you pick, Figo recommends travelling with a calming collar or a few treats on hand if your dog finds a buzzy beer garden a bit much — it’s made a real difference for us on busy weekends in Llangollen.

FAQs

Is The Sun Trevor in Llangollen dog-friendly?

Sources disagree. Visit Wales’ official page says dogs are welcome in the bar, restaurant and beer garden with a dedicated dog menu, while a regional press roundup says bar-only. We’d recommend calling ahead to confirm before you visit.

Are there dog-friendly pubs in Denbigh, St Asaph, Rhuddlan or Corwen?

We couldn’t verify any for this guide — every search returned only generic or campsite listings, not a specific named venue with a stated dog policy. This is a gap in our research, not a confirmed absence.

What’s the most confirmed dog-friendly pub in Denbighshire?

Dinorben Arms in Bodfari and Three Pigeons Inn near Ruthin both carry CAMRA’s official “Dog Friendly” tag, though neither source specifies which areas of the pub dogs can go in.
