An honest gap: cafés and restaurants

CAMRA doesn’t cover cafés or restaurants, and we couldn’t verify a single standalone café or restaurant’s own stated dog policy in any of these towns. East Riding Leisure, the council’s own leisure centre operator, has rolled out designated dog-friendly café tables at its Bridlington, Hornsea and Beverley sites after a successful trial — a nice touch, but a leisure-centre café isn’t quite the same as a dedicated dog-friendly restaurant, so we’re flagging it as a different kind of venue rather than counting it alongside the pubs above. We also found two pubs that have since closed (the Victoria Hotel in Goole, the Howden Arms and Tailor’s Chalk in Howden) and left them off.

If a busy pub beer garden is a lot for your dog, a calming collar alongside a short lead can help take the edge off — though proper training is the real long-term answer for a dog who’s genuinely struggling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there dog-friendly cafés in the East Riding?

We couldn’t verify a standalone café with its own stated dog policy in this research pass. East Riding Leisure centres in Bridlington, Hornsea and Beverley do offer designated dog-friendly café tables, which is the closest confirmed option.

Which Driffield pubs allow dogs?

Six: the Buck Hotel, Full Measure, Original Keys, Star Inn, Tiger Inn and Butchers Dog, all confirmed via CAMRA’s own “Dog Friendly” facility tag.

Is the Victoria Hotel in Goole still open?

No, it closed in September 2026 when the landlord retired, according to CAMRA’s own listing, so we’ve left it off this guide.
