Dog-Friendly Pubs, Cafés & Restaurants in Norfolk

Dog resting on a table at a dog-friendly pub or café

Norfolk’s pub coverage is genuinely good once you lean on CAMRA’s own “Dog Friendly” tags and the North Norfolk coast’s official tourism-board list — but cafés and restaurants are a much thinner picture, concentrated almost entirely on the coast strip between Cromer and Burnham Market.

Verified pubs (CAMRA “Dog Friendly” tag)

Eaton Cottage and Kings Head, Norwich. King’s Arms, Great Yarmouth. Live & Let Live and Crossways (lead required), King’s Lynn. Albion, Thetford. Cock Inn and Park Hotel, Diss (the Park Hotel reopened in late 2025, worth a quick check it’s still trading). Royal Standard and George, Dereham. Red Lion Hotel, Cromer — specifically the Cromer one, since “Red Lion” is one of the most common pub names in the country.

The Victoria Inn, Holkham/Wells-next-the-Sea; White Horse, Blakeney, and a separate, different White Horse, Brancaster Staithe — two distinct pubs, not one; Buckinghamshire Arms, Blickling; The Dabbling Duck, Great Massingham; Jolly Sailors, Brancaster; Ship Inn, Mundesley; King’s Head, Letheringsett; Banningham Crown, Banningham; Bull Inn, Walsingham; Three Horseshoes, Briston; Le Strange Arms, Old Hunstanton; Fur & Feather, Woodbastwick; White Horse Inn (brew pub), Neatishead; Ostrich Inn, South Creake, near Fakenham.

Cafés and restaurants: thin, but real

The strongest find in the whole county is Doggie Diner in Cromer — a dedicated dog café, dogs welcome inside or out. Wells Beach Café, Wells-next-the-Sea, is the next best-sourced, confirmed by three independent sources. Also reasonably sourced: Marriott’s Warehouse, King’s Lynn; Richardson’s Marina Café, Stalham; Eaton Park Café, Norwich; Two Magpies Bakery, Blakeney; Natural Surroundings Café, Holt; and Gibsons Bistro, Cromer. We found zero dog-friendly café or restaurant coverage of any kind for King’s Lynn town centre, Thetford, Diss, Swaffham, Fakenham town, Dereham or North Walsham.

Genuine gaps

Swaffham is a real gap, not a research shortfall — three of its five CAMRA-listed pubs are now permanently or long-term closed, and the two still trading carry no dog-friendly tag. Sheringham and Hunstanton town centre turned up no clearly dog-friendly pub or café either, despite both being popular coastal towns. We also caught and excluded several closed venues confirmed via CAMRA’s own live pages, including the Kings Arms Coaching Inn and Horse & Groom Hotel in Swaffham, and the Kings Head Hotel and Crown in Dereham.

A busy pub garden full of new smells and other dogs takes some settling into, especially somewhere unfamiliar. A calming bite before you set off can help a nervier dog relax rather than spend the whole visit on edge. If the anxiety runs deeper than a new place, that’s a conversation for your vet.
