Caerphilly is known for its castle, the largest in Wales and the second largest in Britain after Windsor. It was built mainly between 1268 and 1271 by Gilbert de Clare, and its tower has leaned about 3 metres out of the perpendicular since 1648. Dog rules at the castle are not something we have checked, so look for signs on arrival.
