Dog Walkers in Nottinghamshire

Owner walking a dog along a park path

Nottinghamshire has no dog-walker licensing scheme anywhere in the county, and on our first pass we couldn’t verify a single independent dog-walking business with a genuinely active website or social presence, though a second look on Google Maps (below) found a dozen with their own websites. What did clear our bar first time round were two individually-reviewed dog walkers on Rover.com, one each in Nottingham and Newark.

Two independently reviewed walkers, via Rover.com

We only count a Rover.com profile once it clears 50 genuine reviews, and two profiles did: one walker in Nottingham city, with 70 reviews, and one walker in Newark, with exactly 50 reviews. These are the only two individual dog walkers we found across the whole county that we could independently verify as genuinely active — treat them as a Rover-only finding rather than a vetted local business, in line with how we present Rover profiles elsewhere on this site.

No licensing scheme, and no verified independent business on our first pass

Neither Nottingham City Council nor any of the surrounding district councils (Mansfield, Newark & Sherwood, Bassetlaw, Ashfield, Broxtowe, Gedling, Rushcliffe) run a dog-walker licensing or registration scheme — their licensing pages cover only standard categories like home boarding and dangerous wild animals. Mansfield’s own Animal Welfare Register does list two businesses trading under walking-sounding names, but they’re licensed as home boarders, not as walkers — not the same thing. Beyond the two Rover profiles above, on our first pass every named business we found (The Dog Walker, Paws and Claws Nottingham, Woof and Tumbles (which our Google Maps second look below shows with its own website), Daggers Dog Walking, Dovecote Pet Care, Fraser’s Friends Dog Walking Services, and others) turned up only as directory stubs, with no locatable website or active, regularly-posting social media page we could confirm — so we haven’t named them as verified businesses in this first section.

If you’re relying on a dog walker during the working day, a settled routine matters more than most things. A calming bite can help take the edge off if your dog finds changes in company unsettling. If the anxiety persists beyond a new routine, that’s worth raising with your vet.

We haven’t tested any of them, Google ratings come from the public, and the listings rarely make the town clear, so ask where each walker operates. Walking For Paws Nottingham (27), Stephs 4 Paws (23) and Walkies of West Bridgford (16) are well reviewed but have no website on their listings, so we’ve left them off. If a walker offers boarding, ask to see the council licence.

Alongside any walker you book, it is nice to keep some outings for just the two of you. Our best local dog walks in Nottinghamshire can help with ideas, and our dog-friendly pubs, cafés and restaurants in Nottinghamshire are there for a break afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a verified dog walker in Nottinghamshire?

We found two individually-reviewed walkers on Rover.com clearing our 50-review bar — one in Nottingham city (70 reviews) and one in Newark (50 reviews) — but on our first pass no independently verifiable business with its own website or active socials, though a second look on Google Maps (above) found a dozen with their own websites.

Does any Nottinghamshire council license dog walkers?

No. Nottingham City Council and every surrounding district council only license standard categories like home boarding — none run a dog-walker-specific scheme.

Is Mansfield’s Animal Welfare Register a dog-walker licence?

No — the two walking-named businesses on it are licensed as home boarders, a different activity, not as dog walkers.
