Torfaen has one secure dog field we could confirm from the operator’s own site, in Cwmbran, plus a border-case paddock and a nearby field just over the county line. Our search was thin here, so this is a starting point rather than a full list. Prices change, so confirm before you travel.
Verified: The Cwtch Secure Dog Parks, Cwmbran
The Cwtch Secure Dog Parks are at Little Cwrt Bach Farm, Pentre Lane, Henllys, Cwmbran NP44 7AZ. There are two separate parks: an Adventure Park with eight or more pieces of equipment, and a more secluded Sensory Park. Both have their own car parks, coded gates and staggered slots, and the operator describes them as fully enclosed. A directory says 6ft tornado fencing with a foot buried below ground, which we haven’t confirmed with the operator.

The operator’s page shows £13 per session on weekdays and £15 at weekends for up to two dogs, plus £1.50 for each extra dog, with a maximum of five dogs in the Adventure Park. A directory quotes “from £15 for 45 minutes”, so confirm the current price when you book. First-timers book an introduction session. Book at thecwtchanimalhomestay.co.uk or on 07944 545136. If your dog is an XL Bully-type or subject to a control order, contact the farm before booking.
Border case: Paws in the Paddock
Paws in the Paddock, Graigwood House, Malthouse Lane, Llantarnam NP44 3EE, offers a roughly one-acre paddock with a 1.9m steel fence, split into two halves with one kept distraction-free. Booking is online through its SimplyBook page and it works as a membership that anyone can join. The operator’s own page gives the address as Caerleon, Newport and warns that sat-nav gets the postcode wrong, so we can’t confirm which side of the county boundary it sits on. We haven’t seen a price.
Just outside Torfaen
Islwyn Dog Field, Mill Bridge Road, Gelligroes, Pontllanfraith NP12 2HY, is in Caerphilly rather than Torfaen. Its own site shows two fields with a 6ft fence buried below ground, online booking, up to 15 dogs per booking and year-round opening. We didn’t see a price or acreage. We found no secure field in the Pontypool, Blaenavon or Abersychan area, which isn’t proof there isn’t one.
A secure field is a lovely place for a reactive or nervy dog to run without surprise visitors. A calming bite can help take the edge off the journey there. If reactivity is a regular issue, that is worth discussing with your vet or a qualified trainer.
