We’ll be honest about this one: Dundee’s dog-friendly pub scene is real but thin on verified detail, and the café side is thinner still. We checked CAMRA’s own “Dog Friendly” pub tags rather than relying on round-up articles, several of which contradicted CAMRA’s own data outright — so this list is shorter than some you’ll

Dundee isn’t the obvious dog holiday destination of the Highlands or the coast, but as a compact “City of Discovery” with the Tay on its doorstep, it’s a fine base for a short break with a dog in tow. We checked each hotel’s own site or booking platform rather than taking an aggregator’s word for

Dorset has about as much variety in a single county as you’ll find anywhere in England: Jurassic Coast cliffs, open heath, forest tracks and a gentle river valley, often all within half an hour’s drive of each other. Figo’s favourite is still a toss-up between sand and heather. Here’s our pick of routes, each checked

Figo is good off the lead, but I know plenty of Dorset dogs who need a properly fenced field rather than a wide-open beach, whether that’s recall still in progress, a reactive streak, or simply a dog who’d rather not share his space with strangers. We checked each of these against its own booking site

Figo doesn’t love being walked by anyone other than me, but plenty of working dog owners in Dorset need someone reliable on the days they can’t do it themselves. There’s no shortage of dog walkers advertising locally, but genuine independent verification — a working business history, real reviews on a platform the business doesn’t control,

Figo’s definition of a good pub is simple: somewhere with a water bowl, a bit of floor to stretch out on, and nobody minding if he sighs loudly during the starters. Dorset does well by that standard — we found 25 venues across the county with a genuinely confirmed dog-friendly policy, mostly from CAMRA’s own

Figo has strong opinions about hotel carpets (he rates them for sniffability, obviously), so whenever we’re planning a Dorset trip, the pet policy gets checked before the view does. Dorset’s coastline and countryside make it a brilliant dog holiday county, but “pet-friendly” can mean anything from a free run of the lounge to a strict

Devon has two coastlines, a moor in the middle and a huge summer population, which makes it one of the richest counties we’ve covered for dog walks — and one of the trickiest for beach rules. Here’s a geographic spread from coast to moor, sourced to National Trust, the National Park Authorities, councils and Forestry

Devon turned out to have a genuinely solid cluster of secure, hire-by-the-hour dog exercise fields — more than most counties we’ve covered. We checked aggregator sites, operators’ own websites, Google reviews and Facebook pages directly, and we’re naming two likely bad listings so you don’t book them by mistake. Devon is a big county, and we found its dog-walker coverage genuinely uneven: one strong, council-backed scheme in the north, and a thin spot in the three biggest towns on our first pass, though a second look on Google Maps (below) found more. Here’s exactly what we found, honestly, rather than padding the gaps with
