Fife runs from the Forth bridges up to the Tay, taking in Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, St Andrews and the fishing villages of the East Neuk along the way. We checked each hotel, B&B and campsite against its own website or official chain page, cross-referencing an independent source wherever we could, and we’re honest below about which towns came up empty.

North Queensferry
DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh – Queensferry Crossing, St Margarets Head, KY11 1HP — dog-friendly rooms, £30 non-refundable fee, dogs must be medium-sized or smaller (roughly 25lbs and under).
Dunfermline
Holiday Inn Express Dunfermline — up to two pets, no weight limit, £30 per pet per stay, pre-booking essential. Premier Inn’s general UK policy doesn’t allow dogs, so its branches around Fife aren’t listed here.
St Andrews and nearby
- Fairmont St Andrews — dog-friendly rooms, up to two dogs per room, £50 per pet per night, water bowl and dog bed provided, dogs welcome in the lobby and hallways too.
- The Inn at Kingsbarns, 5 Main Street, Kingsbarns, KY16 8TA — dogs allowed in all bedrooms and in “the Snug,” with no fee for dogs stated.
- The Inn at Lathones, by Largoward, KY9 1JE — describes itself as “extremely dog friendly”; we could only confirm this from one source, so treat it as a good lead rather than fully verified, and check directly before booking.
Elie
The Ship Inn, The Toft, KY9 1DT — two “Sea Dog” rooms (one ground floor with a walk-in shower), dogs also welcome in the bar and downstairs restaurant, £25 per dog per stay, with a bowl, biscuits and “doggy ice cream” included.
Leven
- Montrave Estate Wigwams, KY8 5NY — up to two well-behaved dogs, £20 per dog, a farm-based site with plenty of space to walk.
- Silverburn Park Campsite — described by two independent sources as a family and dog-friendly site.
Where we couldn’t find anything to recommend yet
Kirkcaldy, Rosyth, Inverkeithing, Cupar, Burntisland, Anstruther and Glenrothes town itself all came up empty — plenty of self-catering cottages surface in these areas on rental-platform searches, but nothing standalone we could verify as a hotel, B&B or campsite. We also found one holiday park, in Elie, whose own website contradicts itself on whether dogs are allowed at all, so we’ve left it out until that’s resolved rather than guess which version is current.
Travelling over the Forth with a dog who gets unsettled on long car journeys? Our calming collars and treats collection is worth a look before you set off.
