We went town by town across Fife checking CAMRA’s own pub records for a genuine “Dog Friendly” tag, backed up by Fife’s official tourism board and a couple of local heritage sites for cafés. Some pubs only allow dogs in part of the building, so we’ve said exactly where wherever a source told us.

Dunfermline
East Port, 7 East Port, KY12 7JG — dog friendly.
Kirkcaldy
- Exchequer, 60–62 High Street, KY1 1NB — dogs welcome “on their lead, beside their owners.”
- Tranquility Cafe and The Tea House — both named as dog friendly on Fife’s official tourism site, though we couldn’t independently confirm current addresses, so treat these two as a lower-confidence lead rather than fully verified.
Kirkcaldy’s best-known dog pub, the Harbour Bar, is temporarily closed for redevelopment with an expected reopening around 2027, so it isn’t listed here for now.
St Andrews
- Whey Pat Tavern, 1 Bridge Street, KY16 9EX — dog friendly, with drinking bowls and dog biscuits provided.
- Cottage Kitchen, KY16 9NL — dogs welcome at the rear courtyard tables and out front.
- Byre Theatre café/bar — dogs welcome in the café/bar, but not the main restaurant.
Cupar
Boudingait, 43 Bonnygate, KY15 4BU — “dogs are welcome at all times.”
Burntisland
Sands Hotel, Lochies Road, KY3 9JX — dogs welcome, but only in the extensive rear garden, not the main pub.
Leven
- Caledonian, 81 High Street, KY8 4NG — dog friendly.
- Blacketyside Farm Shop & Café, KY8 5PX, on the edge of town — large covered outdoor seating suitable for dogs; indoor policy not stated.
Anstruther
- Ship Tavern, 49 Shore Street, KY10 3AQ — dog and family friendly.
- Coast Coffee, KY10 3EA — dog friendly, though our two sources disagree on whether that’s the whole café or just the outdoor seating, so treat it as outdoor-only until you’ve checked with the café.
Inverkeithing
Hillend Tavern, 37 Main Street, Hillend, KY11 9ND — has its own “Dog Bar” with water and treats. Worth noting Hillend is a small village just outside Inverkeithing proper rather than the town centre itself; no dog-friendly venue was confirmed in the town centre.
North Queensferry
- Rankin’s Café — dogs allowed outside, with a water bowl always provided.
- The Shore (at the DoubleTree by Hilton) — dogs welcome in the snug area, with water bowls and treats.
Where we came up short
We couldn’t confirm a single dog-friendly pub, café or restaurant in Glenrothes or Rosyth despite checking CAMRA’s records and the official tourism site for both towns — a genuine gap rather than an oversight on our part. If you know a dog-friendly spot in either town, let us know.
Heading somewhere busy with a dog who finds new places stressful? A few Calmdogs calming bites alongside a familiar blanket can help take the edge off.
