Dog-Friendly Accommodation in West Yorkshire: Hotels, Lodges & Cottages

Dog indoors in a bright, dog-friendly room

West Yorkshire has city hotels in Leeds and Wakefield, country inns around Ilkley and cottages and lodges in the Calder Valley. Few publish a dog fee, so we’ve given the figures where an operator or chain stated them and said where we couldn’t find one. Coverage is partial, and we flag what needs a phone call.

Hotels with a stated policy

Holiday Inn Leeds Garforth, Wakefield Road LS25 1LH, says dogs can stay for £15 per dog per night, plus a £40 pet deposit per stay. Hyatt House Leeds welcomes one dog per room under 23kg for £30 per stay, on a lead in public areas and not in the lounge or food areas. We couldn’t confirm its postcode from the policy page. Travelodge says pets are welcome in standard rooms and SuperRooms with a per-pet cleaning charge, and its hotel pages for Huddersfield, Leeds Central and Wakefield list pet-friendly rooms. The amount isn’t stated, so confirm at booking.

Inns and country stays

In Ilkley, The Wheatley Arms at Ben Rhydding (01943 816496) calls itself proudly dog-friendly, though we didn’t read its room terms, and the Crescent Inn (01943 811250) lists a dog-friendly room, with no fee stated. Hotel St Pierre at Newmillerdam, Wakefield (01924 255596), has a limited number of dog-friendly rooms. At Hebden Bridge, Visit Calderdale says four of The White Lion’s ten rooms are dog-friendly. The Fleece Inn in Haworth is contradictory on its Visit Bradford listing, which says dogs are welcome in public areas, lists one dog-friendly King room at a surcharge, and also says pets aren’t accepted, so phone first.

Lodges, cottages and camping

Visit Calderdale lists The Lodge at Hardcastle Crags (two dogs welcome), Little Nook Farm Cottage at Wadsworth (well-behaved dogs, notice needed) and Hebden Camping at Colden, where pets are welcome under close supervision. None states a fee. We haven’t read the operators’ own pages for these.

Leads, exclusions and gaps

An old Yorkshire Evening Post piece described a £20 per dog “Pooch Package” at Oulton Hall, and a 2019 listing gave Bagden Hall dog rooms, but we couldn’t confirm either currently. Visit Bradford says The Craiglands Hotel in Ilkley doesn’t accept pets, though we couldn’t check its own site. We didn’t retrieve policies for Premier Inn, Malmaison, Hotel Indigo, Radisson, Hilton or Best Western, and found no operator-verified stays in Bradford city, Keighley, Otley, Halifax or Huddersfield beyond Travelodge. That is a limit of what we could verify, not proof there are none.

A new room can unsettle a nervier dog. A calming bite before you travel can help take the edge off the first night away, and if your dog is regularly anxious away from home, speak to your vet.
