Buckinghamshire has plenty of pubs that will happily let a dog flop under the table, but Figo and I wanted somewhere specific with an actual address and a confirmed policy, not just a general “dogs welcome” reputation. Here’s what checked out.
Pubs
The Jolly Farmer, Chalfont St Peter
At Gold Hill West, Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, SL9 9HH (Google Maps, listing on DogFriendly.co.uk), dogs are welcome in the front bar, outside, and the back of the pub, though not in the main dining area. Water bowls and dog biscuits are provided. Our source listing was last updated in 2019, so it’s worth a quick check with the pub on the day, especially if you’re planning to eat there.
The George and Dragon, Marlow
This Heartwood Inns pub at The Causeway, Marlow, SL7 2AA (Google Maps, official website) welcomes dogs in many parts of the pub, with its own dog menu, a water and food bowl, and a dog wash station — useful if your dog’s just been in for a swim at Marlow weir. It also does rooms if you want to make a night of it; see our Buckinghamshire accommodation guide.
What we couldn’t confirm
We looked for a dog-friendly café specifically inside Buckinghamshire with its own stated policy and couldn’t confirm one. Plenty of general “dog-friendly café” lists mention Bucks towns, but when we tried to trace a listing back to an address and a policy actually stated by the café itself, we came up empty. If you know a genuine one, let us know and we’ll add it.
If you’re planning a pub lunch with your dog, a lead that won’t tangle round table legs makes the whole thing easier — have a look at the leads and harnesses at Calmshops.
