Cheshire has a strong pub scene, and quite a few of them make a real effort for dogs — water bowls, treats at the bar, sometimes a whole doggy menu. Figo approves. We checked each one against at least two independent sources before putting it on this list. Our Cheshire hub page has the rest of what we cover in the county.
Verified dog-friendly pubs
The Fishpool Inn, Delamere
At Fishpool Road, Delamere, Cheshire, CW8 2HP (Google Maps, CAMRA WhatPub listing), there’s a dedicated dog-friendly dining and bar area, with water bowls and dog biscuits provided — handy if you’re walking it off in Delamere Forest first.
Ring O’Bells, Christleton
At Village Road, Christleton, Chester, CH3 7AS (Google Maps, CAMRA WhatPub listing), water and treats are provided for dogs, and CAMRA’s own facility tag confirms it as dog friendly.
Three Greyhounds Inn, Allostock
At Holmes Chapel Road, Allostock, Cheshire, WA16 9JY, near Knutsford (Google Maps, the pub’s own site), there’s a dedicated “dog’s dinner” menu and even a doggy beer behind the bar, with dogs welcome indoors or in the large garden. It sits right next to Shakerley Mere, a good spot for a walk either side of lunch.
The Pheasant Inn, Higher Burwardsley
At Higher Burwardsley, Tattenhall, Chester, Cheshire, CH3 9PF (Google Maps, CAMRA WhatPub listing), dogs are welcome in both the indoor and outdoor seating areas. It’s also on our Cheshire accommodation page if you fancy staying the night.
Cafés and restaurants: an honest gap
We couldn’t verify a single dog-friendly café or restaurant in Cheshire to our usual two-source standard. A few names came up — Hypha in Chester (a Michelin Green Star restaurant reportedly dog-friendly throughout) and a small handful of Chester cafés — but each rests on a single listicle mention with no second source to back it up, so we’re not presenting any of them as confirmed. If you’re after a coffee with your dog in Chester, it’s worth phoning ahead and asking rather than relying on a web listing.
Heading out after lunch, our Cheshire swimming spots guide and vets guide are both worth a bookmark for the rest of the trip. If your dog gets a bit much around other diners, a calming collar from Calmshops can help take the edge off a busy beer garden — speak to your vet first if your dog has any underlying health conditions.

Four we could verify against two independent sources each: The Fishpool Inn (Delamere), Ring O’Bells (Christleton), Three Greyhounds Inn (Allostock, near Knutsford) and The Pheasant Inn (Higher Burwardsley).
Is there a dog-friendly café or restaurant in Cheshire?
We couldn’t confirm one to our usual two-source standard. A few names came up in single listicle mentions, but we’d rather be upfront about that than present an unverified recommendation — call ahead and ask.
