Strabane’s own sitter and groomer coverage has been thin on this site until now. We went looking properly this time, including a Google Maps and Google Business check alongside the usual directories, and found a genuine, if small, local market: one licensed kennels and cattery with its own grooming parlour, plus two independent groomers. We couldn’t find a dedicated dog sitter based in Strabane itself, so if you need day-to-day sitting rather than boarding or grooming, our Derry/Londonderry sitters guide is the nearest option.

Boarding and grooming

A mobile groomer covering Strabane and the Donemana area, handy if getting a dog to a salon is the hard part.

Before you book

• Ask what vaccinations or kennel cough cover they need to see before boarding or grooming your dog.
• For grooming, ask how they handle a dog who gets anxious about dryers or clippers.
• For boarding, ask about walk frequency, how dogs are grouped or separated, and what happens in an emergency.

A settled routine at home makes transitions like boarding or a grooming visit easier on an anxious dog. The dog supplements and vitamins collection at Calmshops is worth a look alongside that, and speak to your vet before changing your dog’s diet.

Details come from each business’s own listings, Google Maps and Google Business profiles, and can change, so confirm before you book. More for the area: the Derry and Strabane dog services hub, dog trainers, vets and swimming spots.
