We’ll be upfront: this is the thinnest category in this guide. We checked every district council in Kent for a dog-walker licensing or registration scheme, searched every major town for independent businesses with their own website or active social media, and checked Rover.com profiles against a 50-review minimum bar. Only Maidstone has a council scheme, and not a single business anywhere in the county turned up an independently verifiable website or social media page. We’re publishing what we found rather than folding it away, but please read the caveats below before booking anyone.
Maidstone’s council scheme
Maidstone Borough Council runs a Professional Dog Walking Scheme with a companion Code of Conduct. It’s worth understanding exactly what “approved” means here: a walker agrees to the Code of Conduct, submits proof of public liability insurance, and meets once with a council animal welfare officer who checks the insurance and witnesses the signature. There’s no mention on the council’s own page of DBS checks, site visits, ongoing monitoring or a renewal requirement — so this is a paperwork-compliance list, not an inspected or independently vetted one.
The 18 currently-listed approved walkers, all covering the Maidstone town/borough area: BOE Pet Services, Ellie’s Walks, Elite Pet Services, Filthy Pooches, Calm Care 4 Pets, Chelles Anicare, Kay 9’s Bestie, Wags “N” Walkies, WAGS of Maidstone, Dexter’s Dog Services, WinstonWaggs, KS Dog Walking and Pet Services, SIT: Dog Walking and Training, The Wiggle Butt Society, Two Tails Dog Walking, Zoomies Walkies, Go Walkies Allington, and Meg’s Mogs ‘N Dogs. None of these names turned up an independent website or discoverable social media presence in our search — which doesn’t prove they don’t exist, since small local operators’ Facebook pages are often poorly indexed, but it does mean we can’t give you a link or a direct way to check reviews. Treat this as a starting-point list to search for by name, not a set of ready-made bookings.
No other Kent district — Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge & Malling, Dover, Folkestone & Hythe, Thanet, Dartford, Gravesham or Swale — runs anything equivalent. Searches there returned only dog-fouling and designated-walking-area pages, which aren’t walker-licensing schemes.
Rover.com profiles
Rover’s review counts and “Identity Verified” badges are the platform’s own in-house figures, not independently checked by us, and profiles only show a first name and last initial. With that caveat firmly in place, and sticking to our usual 50-review minimum before we’ll name anyone, two profiles cleared the bar — both in the Dover/Deal area:
- Charlotte L. — 71 reviews (Rover-only, not independently corroborated).
- Fern H. — 56 reviews (Rover-only, not independently corroborated). One flag worth noting: the same name and review count also appeared in a search for Ash, Surrey, so we can’t be fully certain this is the same person or that her coverage genuinely extends across Kent.
Everywhere else in the county — including Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Gravesend, Folkestone, Margate, Faversham, Sittingbourne, Ramsgate, Whitstable and Sandwich — either returned no distinct Rover town page, or every profile we found was under the 50-review bar (several in the high 30s to high 40s), so we haven’t named them.
Honest summary: outside the Maidstone list and these two Rover profiles, Kent has no verifiable dog walker we can point you to. If you’re searching for one yourself, we’d suggest checking Facebook and Instagram directly for the Maidstone names above, since search engines don’t surface small local pet-care pages well, and reading a walker’s own reviews and insurance documents carefully before booking, wherever you are in the county.

A new walker is a new routine for your dog to adjust to, and some take a session or two to settle with someone other than you. If yours gets a bit clingy or anxious before a handover, a calming bite beforehand can help take the edge off, alongside plenty of reassurance. If the anxiety doesn’t ease over time, that’s worth a word with your vet or a qualified behaviourist.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kent have a council-registered dog walker scheme?
Only Maidstone Borough Council does, with 18 approved walkers. It’s a self-registration scheme — proof of insurance and a signed code of conduct — not an inspected or independently vetted one, and no other Kent district runs anything similar.
Are there well-reviewed dog walkers on Rover in Kent?
Only two profiles county-wide clear our 50-review bar, both in the Dover/Deal area. Rover’s figures are the platform’s own and aren’t independently checked by us.
Why isn’t this list longer?
Kent genuinely came back thin for this category. No independent dog walker business anywhere in the county turned up a confirmable website or social media page in our research, which is unusual compared with most counties we’ve covered.
