Dog Walkers in Pembrokeshire

Owner walking a dog along a park path

Pembrokeshire’s professional dog walking scene is genuinely thin to research online — there’s no council scheme and, on our first pass, barely any independent businesses with their own web presence. It isn’t a total blank, though, and a second look on Google Maps (below) turned up a few more, so here’s what we could verify.

One independently verified business on our first pass

The Paw Path, based at Wheelabout Park, Whitland (SA34 0HR), just off the A40 on the Pembrokeshire/Carmarthenshire border — confirmed via its own website and active Facebook and Instagram presence. It’s primarily a premium doggy daycare and boarding centre, but it explicitly offers dog walking, home visits and pet taxi services too, so it’s worth knowing about if you’re in the Narberth/Whitland area, even though walking isn’t its core service.

No council licensing scheme

We checked Pembrokeshire County Council’s own site directly: there is no dog-walker licensing, registration or accreditation scheme in the county. The council’s Animal Establishment Licensing only covers animal boarding (kennels, catteries, home boarding and daycare), dog breeding, horse riding establishments, pet shops and zoos — dog walking itself isn’t a licensed activity here, which matches the pattern in most of the UK.

One Rover.com profile worth knowing

On Rover.com’s own Pembrokeshire listing page, exactly one profile clears a meaningful review count: a Haverfordwest-based sitter and walker with 112+ reviews and the tagline “1st class dog care in West Wales.” As with every Rover profile we mention, this is Rover-only and not independently corroborated beyond the platform itself — reviews, pricing and availability should be checked on Rover directly before booking. Every other Rover profile for the county sits in single figures or low double figures.

Honest bottom line

This is a thin finding for a county this size, and we’d rather tell you that plainly than pad it out. If you’re near Narberth or Whitland, The Paw Path is a genuine, verifiable option. Elsewhere in the county, a well-reviewed Rover profile was the best lead we could independently confirm on our first pass, though the Google Maps second look below adds SPPOT, All Paws In and Happy Hounds and Horses.

A new walker and an unfamiliar routine can unsettle a nervier dog at first. A calming bite before that first walk together can help take the edge off. If the anxiety doesn’t ease once your dog knows the walker, that’s worth a chat with your vet or a qualified trainer.

A second look on Google Maps

We also cross-checked Google Maps. The Paw Path (above) shows 5.0 from 30 reviews, and three more Pembrokeshire listings have their own website and at least 13 reviews:

SPPOT

We haven’t tested any of them, Google ratings come from the public, and the listings don’t always make the town clear, so ask where each one operates. Pembrokeshire Pack Walks (5.0 from 21) has no website on its listing, so we’ve left it off. Several home boarding and kennel businesses also appear, which are licensed activities, so ask to see the council licence if you’re considering one.
