Secure Dog Fields in Powys

Dog standing in an open grassy field

Our first pass couldn’t confirm a secure dog field inside Powys, so Figo and I went back to Google Maps. Three passed our bar: a listing, their own website and at least 17 reviews. Powys is huge and rural, so the fields sit a long way apart, and they’re a good stop if you’re travelling through mid Wales with a dog who can’t be trusted off the lead.

Other listings we left out

Ty Nant Dog Walking Meadow near New Radnor (5.0 from 16) is well reviewed, but its listing shows no website, so we’ve left it off. Wags Field Hire in Shrewsbury sits over the border in Shropshire, and Fun and Run in Dinas Powys is in the Vale of Glamorgan despite the name. We haven’t visited any of these fields, Google ratings come from the public, and reviewers call the fields secure but we haven’t seen the fencing.

What to ask before you book

Ask how high the fence is, whether the field is yours alone for the slot, how many dogs are allowed and what it costs. If there’s livestock nearby, ask how the boundary is kept secure. A calming bite beforehand may help a dog who finds new places a lot, though for ongoing anxiety, speak to your vet. For the rest of the county, see our Powys dog services page.

Since the fields are so spread out, it’s worth pairing a visit with one of the best local dog walks in Powys on the same trip. If your dog needs more work on recall, try our Powys dog trainers directory, and it’s handy to know the best vets in Powys before you head somewhere remote. Near Knighton, our Shropshire secure dog fields guide has more choices over the border.
