West Sussex has a healthy number of bookable secure dog fields, mostly in the Horsham and Haywards Heath area and around Chichester. Each field below has its own operator page, but many pages don’t show a price or maximum number of dogs, so we’ve said what’s missing. Confirm fencing and prices before you travel, especially if your dog is a jumper.
Fields with operator pages
Chichester Secure Dog Activity Park, School Lane, North Mundham PO20 1LA, is available for exclusive hire, with 50-minute walks at £13 after 9am or £10 before 9am, plus a pool at £23 for one or two dogs. Booking is online. Its pages give four and five acres in different places, and the fence height isn’t on the operator page (a 2020 local article said 6ft). Bridge Meadow, Lyminster Road, Littlehampton, has a 6ft fence and is open 7am to 7pm every day through its online booking page. The price isn’t on the operator page, though an undated Sussex Express piece gave £12 for an hour.

Field for Dogs, Stanbridge Lane, Staplefield RH17 6BB, offers 3.5 acres behind a 6ft fence in exclusive 50-minute sessions, booked online. Horse Ghylls Secure Dog Field at Rusper, near Horsham, is a 10-acre field with one-hour sessions for up to four dogs and a larger “Puppy Party” session; a 2020 article put the price at £10 an hour, but the operator’s own price is shown as an image, so check. Sumners Ponds Dog Meadow, Barns Green RH13 0PR, has a 6ft fence with smaller mesh at the bottom, takes up to four dogs per booking and is attached to a fishery and campsite (01403 732539). Paw Pens, More House Farm, Wivelsfield RH17 7RE, has a 6ft deer fence for up to six dogs, but the postcode is close to the East Sussex border, so check the county. Findon Dog Field, Bost Hill car park, Findon BN13 3DD, offers private use of the whole field through online booking, but its page doesn’t say the field is fenced, so confirm before relying on it.
Leads and exclusions
Most of these come from a 2020 SussexLive article or listing sites, and none was recently confirmed open: Paw Paddock sites near Horsham, Pulborough and Balcombe, Walkies Secure Field at Worth, Flying Paws at Warnham, Simon’s Fields at Faygate, Barking Manor near Horsham (which also does training), Bonnie Dogs Field at Balcombe, Bankside Farm near Ditchling Common (check the county), and Clix and Trix Dog Garden at Barnham, which is a small garden rather than a field. Fields at Rake and Hambrook are border cases that may be in Hampshire. We’ve excluded Hampshire fields such as Daisy Dog at Petersfield and Paw Paddock at Westbourne, and East Sussex ones such as Southdowns Unleashed. We found nothing for Arundel, Midhurst, Petworth, Bognor Regis, Storrington or Billingshurst. That is a limit of what we could verify, not proof there are none.
A secure field is a lovely option for a reactive or nervy dog. A calming bite can help take the edge off the journey there, and if reactivity is a regular issue, that is worth discussing with your vet or a qualified trainer.
