Secure Dog Fields in Wiltshire: Three We Could Check

Dog standing in an open grassy field

Wiltshire has a thin but real spread of secure dog fields, and we could check three of them against the operators’ own sites. Several details, including some prices, fence heights and dog limits, weren’t confirmed, and we’ve said where. Ask about reactive dogs and the number of dogs allowed before you book.

Fields we could check

Fairfield College Dog Walking Paddock (43 High Street, Dilton Marsh, near Westbury) is run by the college. It costs £7.50 per hour, booked in one-hour slots online, with a padlock code emailed to you and donations welcome. Opening is 3pm to 7pm Monday to Friday in term time, and 7am to 7pm at weekends and college holidays. The page describes a 6ft fence, a double-gate system, running water and dog bins. It gives the size as 250 m², which is small, so check that before travelling. The dog limit and reactive-dog policy aren’t stated.

K9 Confidential is listed as a secure dog field at Cricklade, near Swindon. Its website describes about two acres, open seven days a week from sunrise to dark, with a 6ft fence dug in 1.5ft with an overhang, a coded double gate and a gravelled drive-in airlock. There’s a shelter, seating, a toilet, an obstacle course, water and towels. Booking is online with credits. We couldn’t confirm the price or the field’s postcode, because the address shown is a Swindon company address, and the dog limit and reactive-dog policy weren’t confirmed. Conditions are posted on its Facebook page.

Dog running freely in a secure, fenced dog field

Fieldtastic at Ridge Farm, Chilmark, near Salisbury (SP3 5AD, a postcode from a listing site) also has an indoor barn, Barntastic. Its own site shows package pricing, with Bronze at £25 for 25 minutes or £45 for 55 minutes, and bundles of 55-minute sessions at £85 and £162.50. A listing site mentions agility, running water, a dog bath, a shelter and parking, but we didn’t confirm the fence, the size, the dog limit or the reactive-dog policy, so read its terms first.

Leads, not confirmed

Hound Haven at Shaw (Bath Road, Shaw, Melksham, SN12 8EG) appears on a listing site from January 2024 with a 6ft fence, two to four acres and prices from £10 an hour, booked through Facebook. We couldn’t read its Facebook page, so we don’t know if it’s still trading. Planners also approved a dog exercise field at Whaddon Lane near Hilperton, Trowbridge, according to a local news report that gives no year (we read it as 2023). We couldn’t find an operator or confirm it has opened.

Gaps and exclusions

We found nothing for Chippenham, Devizes, Marlborough, Warminster, Calne, Pewsey or Royal Wootton Bassett, which reflects our search tools rather than proof there is nothing. Manor Farm at Burnett is in Somerset, so it isn’t included. Names like Fieldtastic and K9 Meadows exist elsewhere in the UK, so check the postcode.

A fenced field is a great place to let an anxious or reactive dog run, and a calming bite may help take the edge off the journey there. If your dog’s worries go beyond that, speak to your vet or a qualified trainer. For open-access routes, see our dog walks in Wiltshire, and our Wiltshire dog services hub.
