Finding somewhere to stay with Figo in Berkshire turned out to mean checking a lot of hotel websites that simply don’t mention dogs at all. Rather than guess at a “probably fine,” here are the three places we could actually confirm a dog policy for, across three different kinds of stay.
Where to stay with your dog in Berkshire
- Easthampstead Park Hotel, Wokingham · Google Maps — dog-friendly rooms cost £30 per day per dog, bookable only by phone or in person at reception, not online. Typically one dog per room, though two very small dogs may be possible if confirmed with the team beforehand. Dogs must stay on a lead inside the hotel and in the grounds, keep off the furniture and beds, and shouldn’t be left alone in the room; dogs are welcome in the country bar and the grounds, and towels are provided for muddy paws.
- California Chalet and Touring Park, Nine Mile Ride, Finchampstead, Wokingham, RG40 4HU · Google Maps · Pitchup listing — a touring and camping park where the first dog is included free on touring and motorhome pitches, with a second dog (maximum one extra) at £2 a night; camping pods allow one dog at £12 a night since none is included free. Dogs must be kept on a lead and supervised at all times, must be microchipped, and guide dogs stay free of charge.
- Holiday Inn Reading West, Padworth Lane, Bath Road, Reading, RG7 5HT · Google Maps — dogs only, up to 2 per room, no weight limit, for £15 per night plus a £40 pet damage deposit; there’s a pet walking area on site. Source: the hotel’s own ihg.com amenities page, verified 18 Oct 2026.
- Little Barber (Sykes Cottages, Ref. 1152674), Upper Bucklebury, near Reading · Google Maps · view the listing on Sykes Cottages — a self-catering cottage marked “Pets: Yes” on its Sykes Cottages listing. Sykes’ general pet policy applies rather than a cottage-specific one stated on the listing itself, so it’s worth confirming any dog fee or number limit directly before booking.
What we couldn’t confirm
The Vineyard Hotel in Stockcross, near Newbury, is a well-known Berkshire hotel that we checked specifically, but its own website doesn’t mention a dog or pet policy anywhere, so we haven’t listed it. If you’re keen to stay there with a dog, it’s worth calling reception directly (01635 528770) to ask, rather than assuming either way.
A few things worth knowing before you book
- A new place to sleep can unsettle a dog that’s used to their own bed — we always bring a packet of Calmdogs’ calming treats for the first night somewhere new with Figo.
- If your dog has any ongoing health needs that matter for travel, a quick check with your vet beforehand is worth it — see our round-up of the best vets in Berkshire.
- Once you’re settled in, pair your stay with one of our Best Local Dog Walks in Berkshire — Dinton Pastures and Swinley Forest are both a short drive from Wokingham, close to two of the stays above.
- Fancy eating out during your stay? See our guide to dog-friendly pubs, cafés and restaurants in Berkshire, and if your dog needs to burn off energy away from other dogs, our guide to secure dog fields in Berkshire.
