Secure Dog Fields in Berkshire: Private Fields for Reactive & Anxious Dogs

A dog running happily across an open grass field, illustrating a secure dog field in Manchester

If Figo needs to let off steam without another dog bounding up to say hello, a hired secure field is the easiest fix — and Berkshire turned out to have more genuine options than most counties we’ve checked for this series. Most cluster around Reading and the Wokingham/Bracknell border, so if you’re further out towards Newbury or Windsor, expect a slightly longer drive. For free, open (but not privately bookable) fenced space, our Best Local Dog Walks in Berkshire guide covers parks and country parks separately.

Secure dog fields in Berkshire

  • Dog Trouble Paddocks, Birchin Inhams Farm, Heathlands Road, Wokingham, RG40 3AP · Google Maps · field listing & booking — from £6.50 for 30 minutes, with secure online booking. Two paddocks (around 1–2 acres each): a Main Paddock and an Agility Paddock. There’s no buffer zone from the neighbouring paddock, so other dogs may be visible at a distance. Owners of XL Bullies or control-order dogs should contact the field directly first to confirm whether they can be accommodated.
  • Ryslip Exercise Field, Ryslip Kennels, Church Lane, Binfield, Bracknell, RG42 5NL · Google Maps · ryslip.com — from £6 for 30 minutes, 1–2 acres. The dog limit is listed as “TBC” on the field’s own page, so confirm numbers directly on 01344 418979 or info@ryslip.com before booking.
  • Hounds & Bounds Dog Fields — Fido’s Field, Bradfield, RG7 6DF · Google Maps · field listing — one of three Hounds & Bounds sites in Berkshire; exact pricing and dog limits aren’t published on the directory listing, so confirm directly with the operator.
  • Hounds & Bounds Dog Fields — Paws Paddock, Sulhamstead Abbots, Reading, RG7 4EE · Google Maps — same operator as Fido’s Field above; again, confirm pricing and dog limits directly.
  • Hounds & Bounds Dog Fields — Bark and Bound Field, Tilehurst, RG31 4UQ · Google Maps — the third Hounds & Bounds site, closest to Reading itself; confirm pricing and dog limits directly.
  • Smart Dogs Training & Dog Walking Field, Reading, RG7 4UL · Google Maps — listed as an enclosed dog field; pricing and dog limits aren’t published on the directory listing, so confirm directly before booking.
  • Woof World, Mortimer Common, Reading, RG7 3AH · Google Maps — another enclosed field on the Reading side of the county; pricing and dog limits aren’t published on the directory listing, so confirm directly.

What we couldn’t confirm

One other field, Wag and Play Secure Dog Field in Newbury, turned up in our research but is currently marked as closed on its directory listing, so we’ve left it off this list rather than risk sending anyone to a field that may no longer be trading. If you know it’s reopened, do let us know. We also found nothing genuinely secure and privately bookable closer to Windsor, Maidenhead or Slough — if that changes, we’ll add it here.

A few things worth knowing before you book

  • Most of these fields’ exact prices and dog limits aren’t published online — the two that do publish pricing (Dog Trouble Paddocks and Ryslip) both start from around £6–£6.50 for a 30-minute session, which is a fair guide for the rest.
  • If your dog gets anxious in the car on the way, or takes a few minutes to settle once you arrive somewhere new, we keep a packet of Calmdogs’ calming treats handy for exactly that with Figo.
  • A sudden change of scenery or routine can be a good moment to check in with your vet if your dog has any ongoing health concerns — our guide to the best vets in Berkshire is a good starting point.
  • For free, open fenced space rather than a private booking, see our Best Local Dog Walks in Berkshire guide, and for somewhere to stay nearby afterwards, our guide to dog-friendly accommodation in Berkshire.
How much does it cost to hire a secure dog field in Berkshire?

Where pricing is published, it starts from around £6 to £6.50 for a 30-minute session. Several Berkshire fields don’t publish their prices online, so it’s worth confirming directly with the operator before booking.

Is there a secure dog field near Reading?

Yes — Reading has the best coverage of any town in Berkshire, with Hounds & Bounds’ Paws Paddock and Bark and Bound Field, plus Smart Dogs Training & Dog Walking Field and Woof World nearby.

Can I bring an XL Bully or a dog on a control order to a Berkshire secure field?

It depends on the field — Dog Trouble Paddocks in Wokingham asks owners of XL Bullies or control-order dogs to contact them directly before booking to confirm whether they can be accommodated. Always check with the individual operator.
