Dog-friendly accommodation in Neath Port Talbot is genuinely thin — only two properties gave us a confirmed “dogs welcome” statement from their own site, and most of the county’s smaller towns came back with nothing at all. Premier Inn is excluded as usual: no UK branch overrides the chain’s standard assistance-dogs-only policy (its genuine dog-friendly rooms are a Dubai-only initiative).
Aberavon / Port Talbot
Best Western Aberavon Beach Hotel, Harbour Way, Aberavon, Port Talbot SA12 6QP — confirmed via the operator’s own site: “we welcome well behaved pets.” No fee, weight limit or specific room restriction is published, so ring ahead to confirm those details before booking.
Afan Valley
Willow Springs Campsite, Llwyn Y Ffynnon Farm, Glyncorrwg SA13 3DB — confirmed via the operator’s own site: “dogs welcome (on a lead).” No fee or maximum number of dogs is stated; phone 01639 865485 to confirm before you book.
Needs a direct check before you book
A handful of other properties turn up as “dog friendly” on booking aggregators and third-party sites, but none had a policy we could confirm from the operator’s own page, so we’re naming them honestly as unconfirmed rather than stating fees or limits we don’t actually know: the Castle Hotel in Neath (The Parade), the Towers Hotel & Spa in Skewen, Ty Hiraeth in the Afan Forest, and the bunkhouse-style stays Bryn Bettws Lodge and Basecamp Wales, both popular with mountain bikers in the Afan Valley. Any of these could be genuinely dog-friendly — we just couldn’t verify it ourselves this time, so a phone call before booking is the safest bet.
Genuine gaps
We found no named, verifiable dog-friendly accommodation at all in Pontardawe, Glynneath, Resolven, Briton Ferry, Skewen town centre, Baglan, Cwmavon or Pontrhydyfen — a real coverage gap across most of the county, not an oversight. One trap worth flagging: Pontrhydyfen is easily confused with Pontrhydfendigaid or Pontrhydygroes, both in Ceredigion and entirely different villages — we’ve kept them separate here.

A new room full of unfamiliar smells can take some adjusting to, especially after a day out in the Afan Valley or along the Aberavon seafront. A calming bite before you travel can help your dog settle in for that first night somewhere new. If the unsettled behaviour doesn’t ease once they’re used to a place, that’s worth a word with your vet.
