Swansea and Gower are a brilliant base for a dog, but the stays we could confirm from operators’ own pages are fewer than you’d expect. Most hotels don’t publish a fee or a dog limit, so treat the phone call as part of booking.
Confirmed on the operator’s own page
Travelodge Swansea M4 (Penllergaer, SA4 9GT, inside the City and County of Swansea) and Travelodge Swansea Central (Princess Way, SA1 3LQ) both say “pet-friendly rooms available”. Travelodge’s chain policy says pets are welcome in standard rooms and SuperRooms, with a per-pet cleaning charge paid at booking and assistance dogs exempt. The amount and dog limit aren’t stated on the pages we read.
Oxwich Bay Hotel, Oxwich, SA3 1LS, refers on its own site to a dog-friendly holiday and has a dog-friendly snug, and its booking form has a dogs field. It doesn’t state a fee, a limit or room restrictions, so ring 01792 390329 before you rely on it. Greenways of Gower, above Oxwich Bay, is a holiday-home park rather than a hotel, and says it is pet friendly; fees and limits sit on a separate dog-friendly page we didn’t read.

National Trust cottages and chains that say no
The National Trust’s Gower cottage list shows Burrows Cottage at Llanmadoc as taking one dog, while Rhossili Old Rectory and Rhossili 1 Coastguard Cottage take none. Check the cottage’s own booking page for fees. Premier Inn’s FAQ says no pets apart from trained assistance dogs, which covers its three Swansea hotels.
Needs a direct check
An aggregator says the New Gower Hotel at Bishopston offers pet accommodation, but its own site blocked our check. We found no policy on the pages we could read for the King Arthur Hotel in Reynoldston, Village Hotel Swansea, or Old Walls at Llanrhidian. An aggregator says the Worm’s Head Hotel at Rhossili doesn’t take pets, and it has also been affected by a fire (see our pubs guide), so ask before assuming. The King’s Head at Llangennith welcomes dogs in the pub, but we couldn’t confirm its rooms. Gower campsites and the main cottage agencies appear on dog-friendly lists, but we haven’t verified individual policies.
Look-alikes and gaps
Holiday Inn Express and Delta Hotels by Marriott are marketed as “Swansea East” but are at Llandarcy in Neath Port Talbot, so we’ve left them out. The Greyhound Inn that publishes a £20 per night dog fee is in Usk, not Gower. We found no confirmed hotel policy in Mumbles, and no Swansea city-centre option beyond the Travelodge.
A new room and a long day out can unsettle a nervier dog. A calming bite before you travel can help take the edge off the first night away. If your dog is regularly anxious away from home, that is worth a word with your vet.
