Dog Services in Glasgow: Sitters, Groomers & Rescue

Grey dog standing in woodland

In 1966 the Pollok estate was given to Glasgow Corporation on the condition that it stayed a public park. Today Pollok Country Park covers 146 hectares (361 acres), making it the largest park in the city, and it keeps an award-winning herd of Highland cattle.

Glasgow is a big city, and our coverage is patchier than its size deserves. The list below sets out what exists: sitters, groomers, rescue, swimming and pet transport pages for Glasgow, with UK-wide guides filling the trainer and vet lines.

What’s covered in Glasgow

Walking with your dog around Pollok

The Scottish Outdoor Access Code says access rights depend on your dog being under proper control. If you meet cattle or other farm animals, keep your dog on a short lead or right beside you, and give them plenty of room. From roughly April to July, keep dogs on a short lead or at heel where birds nest on the ground. And please pick up after your dog.

Extras from Calmshops

Calmshops has a dog vitamins and supplements collection for everyday extras. Your vet is the best person to ask what, if anything, suits your dog.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does AboutDogs have a Glasgow dog trainer list?

Not yet. Our trainer directory covers England and Wales at the moment, and we’d rather say so than pad the page.

Do I need to keep my dog on a lead in Glasgow parks?

The Scottish Outdoor Access Code says your dog must be under proper control, and on a short lead or close beside you around farm animals. Always follow any signs in the park you’re visiting.
