Our first pass couldn’t confirm a secure dog field inside Newport, so Figo and I checked Google Maps again. Two passed our bar: a listing, their own website or booking page, and at least 10 reviews. A private field is handy if your dog is reactive, nervous or still working on recall, because you normally have the space to yourselves for your slot.
Fields with a Google Maps listing, a website and 10+ reviews
Bassaleg Dog Walking Field
★★★★☆ 4.4 · 91 Google reviews
Bassaleg, Newport NP10 8RW. Own website (bassalegdogwalkingfield.uk). Reviewers describe separate areas, including a freedom field and a zoomies zone, plenty of room and lovely views. One reviewer raised maintenance concerns and the owner replied that they’ve been fixed, so it’s worth skimming the most recent reviews before you go.

Graigwood House, Malthouse Lane, Llantarnam, Caerleon NP44 3EE. Online booking page (pawsinthepaddock.simplybook.it). Reviewers mention two fields separated by a fence, one larger with obstacles and one smaller for training, and one reviewer brought a reactive dog and said it went well.

Other listings we left out
Explore by Paw (4.7 from 41) also comes up in Newport searches, but its listing doesn’t show a website of its own, so we’ve left it off. We haven’t visited any of these fields, Google ratings come from the public, and reviewers call them secure but we haven’t seen the fencing.
What to ask before you book
Ask about fence height and whether it goes down to the ground, whether the field is exclusive to you, how many dogs are allowed and what it costs. If your dog finds new places a bit much, a calming bite beforehand may help, though for ongoing anxiety, speak to your vet. For the rest of the city, see our Newport dog services page.
An hour in a private field works well alongside a proper walk, so take a look at the best local dog walks in Newport, or our dog walkers in Newport if you’d like a hand. For recall or reactivity work, try our Newport dog trainers page, and if you don’t mind a short drive, our Torfaen secure dog fields guide just up the valley has more options.
