Secure Dog Fields in the Vale of Glamorgan

Dog standing in an open grassy field

Our first pass found no bookable secure field on the Vale side, so Figo and I checked Google Maps again. One field passes our bar: a listing, its own website and at least 10 reviews. It’s a short list, but a private field is a real help if your dog is reactive, nervous or still learning recall.

Fun and Run secure dog field
★★★★★ 4.7 · 50 Google reviews
Cross Common Road, Dinas Powys CF64 4TP. Own website (funandrundogfield.co.uk). Reviewers mention secure fencing, a padlock system, agility equipment, sniffing areas and benches. One reviewer found the field small, with some areas hard to see, and raised safety concerns, so it’s worth reading recent reviews before you go.

Just over the boundary

Vale View Dog Playing Field and Collar Club both sit close to the Cardiff boundary, and we’ve covered them in our Cardiff secure dog fields guide. Angelwood Lodge at Ewenny sits on the Vale and Bridgend boundary with a Bridgend-area postcode, so check the council area and fees before you book. We haven’t visited any of these fields, Google ratings come from the public, and reviewers call them secure but we haven’t seen the fencing.

What to ask before you book

Ask how high the fence is and whether it goes down to the ground, whether the field is yours alone, how many dogs are allowed and what it costs. A calming bite beforehand may help a dog who finds new places a lot, though for ongoing anxiety, speak to your vet. More local ideas are on our Vale of Glamorgan dog services page.

A field session sits nicely alongside a regular walk, so see the best dog walks in the Vale, or our dog walkers in the Vale of Glamorgan if you’d like some help. For recall and confidence work, the Vale dog trainers directory is the next stop.
