Surrey’s dog-friendly eating out is strongest at National Trust sites, where the dog rules are published. We couldn’t confirm individual pubs from CAMRA or their own websites this round, so the pubs below are leads from guides, not verified listings.
National Trust cafés
The National Trust’s own pages say short-lead dogs are welcome in the café at Box Hill, the Gardener’s Bothy café and kiosk at Claremont in Esher, the cafés and courtyard at Hatchlands Park (East Clandon), the Magna Carta tea-room at Runnymede and the café and shop at Winkworth Arboretum near Godalming. Two come with restrictions. At Polesden Lacey, dogs aren’t allowed in the main café, formal gardens or mansion (assistance dogs only), but are welcome in the small coffee shop by the main entrance. At the Devil’s Punch Bowl café in Hindhead, only assistance dogs go indoors, but pets are welcome on the outdoor terrace with water bowls.

A common mix-up: RHS Wisley’s own page says dogs aren’t allowed in the garden, apart from registered support dogs, so it isn’t a dog day out.
Pub leads to check before you go
Third-party dog guides mention the Woolpack at Elstead (water bowls), the Wheatsheaf at Esher (a pup-friendly terrace), the Jolly Farmer at Bramley, the Parrot at Forest Green near Dorking, the Merry Harriers at Hambledon and the Fox and Hounds at Englefield Green. None of that came from the pubs themselves, and several of these names are shared with pubs in other counties, so ring first and match the town. Pinnocks Coffee House in Ripley was described as allowing dogs upstairs in a post from 2015, so we can’t confirm it’s still trading.
Gaps and look-alikes
We found no confirmed dog-friendly pub or café in Guildford, Woking, Epsom, Reigate, Dorking, Farnham, Leatherhead, Camberley, Haslemere, Cobham or Shere, and no dedicated dog café in the county. That’s a limit of what we could verify, not proof there’s nothing there. Some listings label Haslemere as East Sussex, but it’s in Surrey, and pubs in Kingston, Hampton Wick and Surbiton are Greater London, so we’ve left them out.
Busy pubs can overwhelm a nervier dog. A calming bite before you set off can help take the edge off. If the nerves run deeper than a busy bar, that is a conversation for your vet.
