Secure Dog Fields in Monmouthshire: Private Hire Dog Parks

Dog standing in an open grassy field

Secure dog fields are genuinely rare inside Monmouthshire itself — we found one in-county option, plus two strong alternatives just over the border that are worth knowing about if you’re near Chepstow or Monmouth.

Perfect Pet Services — Llanvaches, near Caldicot

Pike Road, Llanvaches, Caldicot, NP26 3AD — a genuinely in-county field, around 5 acres with a 6ft perimeter fence and gated access, plus on-site parking. We found this via a directory listing (dogfriendly.co.uk) rather than being able to reach the operator’s own dedicated field-hire page, so we couldn’t confirm explicit “sole use” wording, exact pricing, or that it’s still actively trading right now — the booking links we found were inconsistent between regional pages. Worth a call to 01633 400993 or a check of perfectpetservices.com before relying on it for a specific date.

Near the boundary: handy for Chepstow and Monmouth

Happy Fields, Hanley Farm, Tutshill, near Tidenham — genuinely in Gloucestershire, just across the River Wye from Chepstow, not in Monmouthshire itself. Two separate, screened spaces: a 3.5-acre “Big Field” with woodland and a 1-acre “Puppy Paddock.” The operator’s own site makes an explicit sole-use claim worth quoting: “the whole site can also be booked so that users don’t meet another dog.” Prices from £17 (Big Field) and £6 (Puppy Paddock), with a £20 annual membership giving 25% off. Book online at happyfields.uk. Treworgan Fields, Llangrove, Ross-on-Wye HR9 6HB — genuinely in Herefordshire, near Monmouth but across the border; we only found a basic directory listing with no exclusivity wording or pricing confirmed, so treat it as a lead to check directly rather than a confirmed listing.

Genuine gaps

On our first pass we found no secure dog field serving Monmouth town, Abergavenny (a second look on Google Maps, below, found Lets Play near there), Usk, Raglan, Tintern, Llanfoist, Gilwern, Trellech, Mitchel Troy, St Arvans or Shirenewton — a genuine, significant gap across most of the county. The main national aggregators were unhelpful here too: one listed a “Monmouthshire” field that turned out to be in Coalpit Heath, Bristol, and another returned no Monmouthshire results at all.

Dog running freely in a secure, fenced dog field

A secure field gives a reactive or nervous dog proper off-lead time without worrying about who else might turn up. If yours still takes a while to settle even with the field to themselves, a calming bite before the session can help take the edge off, alongside whatever training you’re already working through. For ongoing reactivity, talk to your vet or a qualified behaviourist.

A second look on Google Maps

Google Maps shows one more field in the north of the county.

Llanellen, near Abergavenny NP7 9HT. Own website (letsplayfreedomfield.co.uk). Reviewers call it a secure, enclosed field with agility obstacles, long grass and a sand pit, and one booked the reactive-dog section for a semi-reactive dog.

We haven’t visited, Google ratings come from the public, and reviewers call it secure but we haven’t seen the fencing, so ask about fence height, exclusive use, dog numbers and price before you book.
